Working in Presence
2026 Cohort

A multifaceted training in awareness-based client work
Year One Cohort with Sami Badawy

Overview

This is an opportunity to be in an intimate, practice-based learning container for practitioners who are already deeply engaged in their own inner work and who feel called to work with others from an awareness-based orientation.

This program will be led by Sami Badawy and supported by Dara Blumenthal, PhD. You can learn more about Dara by visiting her website: dara.energy.

All participants have an established relationship with Sami and/or Dara through prior client work and have demonstrated a sincere commitment to self-inquiry, embodiment, and inner development. This is not an introductory program. It is designed for those who are already walking the path and are ready to refine how they meet others in it.

This program is not a certification or a one-time training. It is an initiation into a lifelong path of learning, grounded in presence, relational clarity, and direct experience.

Orientation of the Work

This approach is rooted in Awareness rather than technique alone. While frameworks and methods are taught, they are always in service of something deeper: the practitioner’s capacity to recognize, stabilize, and work from presence.

People come to work with Sami because of the depth of his lived experience, insight, and mastery. This apprenticeship is an opportunity to learn how that way of seeing and working is embodied, not merely replicated.

As such, the program attends to two inseparable pillars.

The Two Core Pillars:

1. Framework and Client Supervision

Apprentices are actively working with clients (or preparing to do so) throughout the year. Learning happens through:

  • Ongoing dyadic client sessions
  • Regular dyad supervision focused on real client material
  • Twice a month teachings on the underlying framework and orientation
  • Refinement of perception, attunement, and responsiveness
  • Learning to trust awareness rather than control or fixing

The emphasis is not on “doing it right,” but on learning to see clearly, remain in presence, and allow the work to unfold from awareness.

2. Deepening into Presence

Equal weight is given to the apprentice’s own inner work.

This includes:

  • Deepening into presence, awareness, and embodied clarity
  • Ongoing personal “polishing” — emotional, relational, and perceptual
  • Recognizing where personal material still shows up in client work
  • Allowing spiritual development to continue unfolding naturally

An awareness-based approach cannot be learned conceptually. Apprentices are expected to continue deepening their own work throughout the year.

Who This Is For

This apprenticeship is for those who:

  • Have already done substantial personal work
  • Are drawn to an awareness-based way of working with clients
  • Are willing to keep meeting their own edges and blind spots
  • Value depth, presence, and integrity over technique or status
  • Understand this as a long-term path, not a credential

What This Is Not

  • This is not a certification program, it is a path of continual refinement
  • This is not a shortcut to becoming a practitioner
  • This is not primarily about methods or protocols
  • This is not suitable for beginners to inner work

Commitment & Participation

Because this is a small cohort (8–9 apprentices), participation, consistency, and relational maturity matter.
Apprentices are expected to:

  • Engage regularly and honestly
  • Bring real material from their work
  • Engage in spiritual or contemplative practice
  • Take responsibility for their own process
  • Respect the intimacy and integrity of the cohort container
  • Respect confidentiality of the cohort and clients

Closing Orientation

This program is an invitation into a way of working — and a way of being — that continues to unfold over time. The yearlong container offers structure and support, but the path itself is ongoing.

What is cultivated here is a capacity, not merely a role.
